DESCRIPTION:Come and circle together for this magical moment: Betwixt. A celebration of the liminal\, the in-between\, things people and spaces that are neither here nor there. \nWe are faeries\, both and neither\, we are betwixt. As we cross the threshold of the longest night into a new solar year\, climb into a chrysalis\, allow your body to melt into goo and trans-form into whatever you are becoming. What are you betwixt? \n  \nThis winter solstice will be the continuation of the traditions we have had before. It will be a fix-it fest and more. As always\, these gatherings are the communergy of the people who come and the ideas they share in the space\, so start thinking about how you want to contribute and what gifts you have to bring. \n  \nWe are calling any faeries to bring morning movement workshops to warm up our cold bodies on these winter mornings; we are seeking cooking faeries to keep our community kitchen buzzing and the faeries fed; we are seeking any fix-it focaliser faeries who would like to focalise projects on the land. We are seeking creative faeries with an eye for painting\, decorating and interior design; massage faeries to rub the hands and feet of the fix-it faeries; and fabulous faeries to host a variety of cosy cuddly crafty evening entertainments throughout the week. \n  \nWe already have a few ideas brewing in the cauldron…..led by the Kiln Guild we will be erecting the shelter for a new wood fired pottery kiln that will be constructed over the next year. \nOur goats have been hard at work clearing hillsides of lantana. Across the week we will be clearing weeds\, planting native rainforest seedlings\, and erecting a new goat fence! Learn about land care and regeneration while getting down and dirty. \n… and there are even rumours of a sauna being created and more.. \n  \nThe night of Wednesday the 21st we will gather around the solstice fire to dance our way through the longest night together\, and jump over the yule log together as we welcome in the dawn. Bring costumes\, musical instruments\, magic and mischief.  \n  \nIf you have a project you would like to do on the land please get in touch @ yoohoo@faerieland.org or mention it in your registration…. and we will see if we can make it happen this winter. Taste the talent of our faerie bakers….\nDominate as many categories as possible and battle-bake off\, for the ultimate crowing glory of the 2025 Bake Off Kweeen.. so get competitive. get creative. and get…. baking.\nThis year promises to be categorically revolutionary. we encourage lateral creativity in the interpretations of the following themes:\nThe categories are: CHILDHOOD WHIMSY: show us something nostalgic from your childhood\, grandmas jam drops or chocolate crackles perhaps? Let your inner child take the reigns.\nSERVING BUNT: Dress to impress\, and more importantly\, to match your entry! Make your costume match your cake and SERVE it on the runway (it doesn’t have to be a cake specifically).\nSEXY SAVOURIES: Sweet is nice but now it’s time to get sexy\, salty and give ourselves something to really savour. We are calling in quiches\, breads and savoury scones.\nMOST CHEESIEST: Say cheese! In every way you could possibly imagine\nLEAST CHEESIEST: Vegan! We are being inclusive! You don’t need animal products to have a delicious time!\nGLUTTON FREE: Gluten Free! Signal your angelic virtues and make your gluttonous delights free from glutens!\nKEEP YOUR EYES ON THE PIES: Savoury pies! Sweet pies! Pie in the sky and pie on your eyes!\nHOMEGROWN: Did you grow this yourself? What’s in your garden? Could you put it in a pie! At least one ingredient must be home grown but more is better!\nEDIBLE ART: Make a statement with your baked goods. Get creative\, get political\, get sculptural… if you dare\n\nYou can submit as many entries as you please and each entry can be eligible for multiple categories. Invent your own category if you like!\nEntries open at 11am and close at midday. The bake off begins with a cake-walk cat-walk\, followed by judging from an esteemed panel of tastefuil (and tasteless) judges. Everyone will get to try the entries for lunch and vote for the Peoples Choice Champion! Keep your stomachs grumbling because we will have a lot of treats to eat.

DESCRIPTION:Faerie Fix-It-Fest   \nWorking Bee Gathering   \nSUNDAY 23 Jun – WEDNESDAY 3 July   \n  \nWe have some work to do to keep Faerieland a gorgeous\, safe and welcoming sanctuary for visitors\, and a comfortable home for its stewards. Oh – we also could do with a kitchen Fae or two to help feed the fix-it team! Please put some dates in your diary – come for a day / a few days / a week/ the whole time/come & go if you’re local. Bring along your skills\, know-how and tools-of-the-trade\, and if you haven’t got any of those\, grease up those elbows! There will be plenty of jobs to do\, inside and out\, for all skill levels\, we’ve all got something to give and something to learn.   \nIn the evenings we will share some nourishing meals\, fun and games (if we have the energy).  Suggested donation for those coming to help with the Fix-It-Fest will be $10 for each day you’re here. The winter solstice this year falls on Friday June 21st\, which we will come together to celebrate over a nourishing long weekend. Arrive on Thursday and set up camp\, ready to burn the yule log and dance around the ritual fire on Friday night. As the weekend draws on we may begin to feel our focus shifting outward and upward\, towards the leaking roof above our very heads. \nWith our energies restored & our hearts full\, let’s cast a spell for Fixing Up Faerieland together\, with an extended working bee guided by beloved elder Teacosy & former fae steward Beans.\nThis will be a chance to help repair Faerieland structures\, support ongoing landcare projects or feed the fae workers with yummy meals. We will head out into the field at 9am\, so arrive early Saturday morning or the night before! \nAfter we finish the winter planting we will take a moment over dinner to look forward to spring and begin preparing for our annual Glitterball. The Monkey Terrace now features multiple levels\, the ridge road is impassable and dams overflowing with mud have collapsed. \nThe ground is not all that is in flux at Faerieland. With the last of the founding members departing\, Griffyn and Chameleon put out a call for new energy\, and five members of the broader community have recently moved in. Spryte\, Puck\, Colours\, Cyrhs and I (Tellurian). \nWe spend our days tending the gardens and land\, dispelling stale energy from forgotten corners and most importantly\, connecting with each other. We are energised and excited to rediscover what it means to be Fae and to shine this beacon of light across the queer community. \nEach of us brings unique gifts that combined and invested here will build on the last 20 years of culture. There is an invitation implicit in that. And a welcome. With the support of the Teacosy\, Seamus\, Griffyn and Chameleon we are empowering ourselves to ignite this Sanctuary into blazing life. \nAll seemed to be elated by hope following our first ‘official’ meeting recently. Beyond sharing our own joys\, vulnerabilities and challenges\, we discussed the option of organising ourselves with a Sociocratic community structure and using a Consent Decision Making process in place of the old consensus model. \nHopefully these tools will enable us to cohesively move towards our common vision which\, incidentally\, we have been brainstorming too. What is our purpose here? What are our shared values? \nHere’s some of what we have at this point in our journey together: We are stewards of the land. We are custodians of Radical Faerie culture. We are activists. We are radical. We honour the Sacred Silly (praise be). \nAfter all was said and done at the rebirth meeting\, we drank homemade cherry wine by firelight and dreamt up all the future possibilities. A sauna; a kitchen renovation; a flock of geese; and a calendar of vibrant art and culture. \nPerhaps we’ll start by inviting you all here to a Winter Solstice Gathering. It might be an opportunity for crowdsourced answers to some of our biggest questions. \nWhat does Radical Faerie mean to you? \nWhat can this Sanctuary offer you?
